The wait is finally over for buyers who have been tracking the return of the Sierra nameplate. Tata Motors has now opened bookings for the new Tata Sierra SUV, following the announcement of prices for all variants. The SUV was introduced in the Indian market in November 2025 with a starting price of Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom), and with the full price list now available, customers can officially place their orders.
A Design That Revives a Classic Identity
The new Tata Sierra stays true to its roots with a boxy and upright stance, a clear nod to the original model that once stood out on Indian roads. At the same time, Tata has added modern elements to give it a strong contemporary presence. The front design is clean and bold, with gloss-black accents visually linking the LED headlamps and daytime running lights to the Tata logo and the Sierra badge.
The SUV character is further reinforced by a chunky front bumper, which houses a skid plate and dual fog lamps. Overall, the design avoids unnecessary styling drama and instead focuses on a solid, confident look that suits an urban as well as highway lifestyle.
Premium Cabin with a Tech-First Approach
Inside, the Tata Sierra feels far more modern than its exterior might suggest. The dashboard layout is dominated by three digital displays, with one screen dedicated to the driver and two handling infotainment and connected functions. This setup allows seamless content sharing and creates a wide, futuristic dashboard experience.
The four-spoke steering wheel, borrowed from the Tata Curvv, features an illuminated Tata logo and touch-sensitive controls. Comfort and entertainment take a big step forward with a 12-speaker JBL sound system, paired with the segment-first SonicShack soundbar.
Tata has also focused heavily on everyday comfort. Features like dual-zone climate control, the largest panoramic sunroof offered in India, wireless charging, rear sunshades, and ventilated, power-adjustable front seats make the Sierra feel genuinely premium. Soft-touch materials and a floating armrest add to the sense of space and luxury inside the cabin.
Strong Emphasis on Safety
Safety is clearly one of the Sierra’s strongest selling points. The SUV comes with a Level 2 ADAS package, offering advanced driver assistance features designed to reduce fatigue and improve awareness. This includes an electronic parking brake, a 360-degree camera, and dual blind spot monitoring.
Alongside ADAS, Tata has equipped the Sierra with essential passive safety features such as six airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and three-point ELR seatbelts for all occupants. The electronic stability program supports up to 21 safety functions, reinforcing Tata’s focus on occupant protection.

Multiple Engine Choices for Different Buyers
Under the hood, the Tata Sierra offers a wide range of powertrain options. The petrol lineup is led by a 1.5-litre direct-injection turbocharged engine producing 160 hp and 255 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission sourced from Aisin.
For buyers prioritising efficiency, Tata also offers a naturally aspirated petrol engine that delivers 106 hp and 145 Nm of torque. This engine uses the Atkinson cycle and can be paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Diesel buyers are not left out. The 1.5-litre diesel engine produces 118 hp and is available with a 6-speed manual transmission generating 260 Nm of torque, or a 6-speed automatic with a higher 280 Nm output.
Final Thoughts
With bookings now open, the Tata Sierra SUV positions itself as a well-thought-out offering rather than just a nostalgic comeback. Its blend of classic-inspired design, modern interiors, strong safety focus, and multiple engine options makes it a serious contender in its segment.
At a starting price of Rs 11.49 lakh, the Sierra targets buyers who want something distinctive, comfortable, and well-equipped without stepping into luxury-car territory. For many, this could be the most balanced Tata SUV yet.
