Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp have introduced a new top-end version of their jointly developed X440. This new model, called the X440 T, enters the lineup as the most premium variant, priced at Rs 2.79 lakh (ex-showroom). With this update, Harley aims to refresh the motorcycle’s appeal through design tweaks, added features, and a more modern riding feel.

A Fresh Take on the Harley-Davidson X440

The arrival of the X440 T comes at a time when revised GST norms have increased taxes for motorcycles above 350cc. Instead of raising prices, Hero and Harley have chosen a different approach—enhancing the motorcycle with styling updates and new technology while keeping pricing competitive.

The X440 T stands out mainly because of its redesigned rear profile. One of the older model’s most criticised gaps between the rear tyre and fender has been addressed, giving the bike a more balanced and cleaner look. The new tail section also receives redesigned grab rails that match the updated styling.

Harley has introduced four new colour options with refreshed graphics: Pearl White, Vivid Black, Pearl Red, and Pearl Blue. Together, these changes make the motorcycle look fresher and more premium than before. With this update, the earlier base Denim variant has been discontinued, and alloy wheels now come standard across the range. The X440 T also receives bar-end mirrors, adding to its sporty character.

Added Features for a More Modern Ride

Harley-Davidson has used the X440 T as an opportunity to introduce new technology aimed at riders who appreciate a modern feature set. For the first time on the X440 platform, the motorcycle comes with ride-by-wire throttle, allowing smoother and more precise throttle control. Two riding modes—Road and Rain—are now part of the package, giving riders more flexibility depending on weather and road conditions.

Safety has also been boosted. The X440 T gets switchable ABS and switchable traction control, features that appeal to newer riders as well as those who enjoy more control over their riding style. Another useful addition is a panic braking alert, where the indicators automatically flash during emergency braking to warn vehicles behind.

While the features have evolved, the core mechanical setup remains unchanged. The bike continues to use USD front forks, twin rear shock absorbers, and a disc brake at both ends paired with dual-channel ABS. The wheel sizes—18 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear—remain the same.

Engine and Performance

Under the updated bodywork, the X440 T uses the same 440cc oil-cooled single-cylinder engine as before. It produces 27 bhp and 38 Nm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The additional equipment has increased the motorcycle’s weight slightly, bringing it to 192 kg. Features like the TFT display, LED lighting, and other premium elements continue unchanged.

Final Thoughts

The Harley-Davidson X440 T brings meaningful upgrades without increasing the price, which makes the package more attractive than before. With a sharper design, more colour choices, modern electronics, and established mechanicals, the new variant slots in as a stronger overall offering. For riders looking for a blend of classic appeal and contemporary features, the X440 T is now the most complete version of the X440 lineup.
