Tata Motors is getting ready to add new energy to its SUV line-up in India. To increase sales and keep up with changing customer needs, the company is working on three important launches. These include an updated version of the Punch, an all-electric Sierra, and the start of a new premium electric brand called Avinya. All three products are planned for the next two years and will play a big role in Tata’s future plans.

Tata Punch Facelift Coming in 2026

The Tata Punch is one of the brand’s best-selling SUVs, and Tata is now preparing a mid-life update for it. This facelifted Punch is expected to arrive in the first half of 2026. Test vehicles have already been seen on Indian roads, giving a clear idea of what changes are coming.

On the outside, the updated Punch will take strong design inspiration from the Punch EV. It is expected to get a new grille, revised headlamps, and a fresh LED daytime running light design. Tata is also likely to introduce new alloy wheels and updated front and rear bumpers, which should make the small SUV look more modern and sharper than before.

Inside the cabin, the changes will be more noticeable. The facelifted Punch is expected to get a larger 10.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo is also expected. Tata may update the dashboard layout, centre console, and the instrument cluster to give the cabin a more premium and up-to-date feel.

Mechanically, the Punch facelift will stay the same. It will continue with the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a five-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. Tata will also continue to offer a CNG version, keeping the Punch practical for a wide range of buyers.

Tata Sierra EV to Launch by Mid-2026

Tata Motors is also working on bringing back a legendary name in a modern electric form with the Tata Sierra EV. This electric SUV is expected to launch around mid-2026, although Tata has not officially confirmed the exact date yet.

The Sierra EV will be built on Tata’s Acti.ev platform, which is already used by models like the Punch EV and Curvv EV. In the electric SUV space, the Sierra EV will compete with cars such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, and Mahindra BE 6.

The Sierra EV is expected to come with two battery options. One battery option may be similar to what is used in the Curvv EV, while the larger battery could be shared with the Harrier EV. The standard version is likely to send power to the front wheels, but higher variants may get a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. Tata is targeting a driving range of around 450 to 500 kilometres on a full charge, making it suitable for both city use and long trips.

Tata Avinya: A New Premium Electric Brand

Along with new models, Tata Motors is also planning something bigger. The company will introduce Avinya as a separate premium electric brand in India before the end of the next financial cycle. This means Avinya will not just be a model name, but a full luxury brand with its own identity.

The first electric SUV under the Avinya name is expected to launch towards the end of 2026. This production model will be closely based on the Avinya concept that was shown at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. Tata also plans to open separate showrooms and customer touchpoints for Avinya, clearly placing it above its regular electric cars.

The Avinya range will be built on JLR’s Electrified Modular Architecture, which is designed for premium electric vehicles. These models will compete with high-end electric cars like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. Tata Motors is backing this plan with a major investment of Rs 18,000 crore, which will be used for new electric vehicles, platforms, and supporting systems.

Final Thoughts

Tata Motors is clearly preparing for a busy and important phase. With the Punch facelift, the company is strengthening its mass-market SUV. The Sierra EV brings back a famous name in a modern electric form, while Avinya marks Tata’s serious entry into the premium electric space. Together, these three launches show that Tata is planning for both volume growth and long-term leadership in the electric vehicle market in India.
